What Is Medicare?
Medicare is health insurance for the following:
- People 65 or older
- People under 65 with certain disabilities
- People of any age with End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD)
(permanent kidney failure requiring dialysis or a kidney transplant)
When Am I Eligible?
In general, U.S. citizens over the age of 65 and those with certain disabilities qualify for Medicare. This section explains the specific eligibility requirements for obtaining Medicare coverage.
Different Parts of Medicare
Original Medicare covers many health care services and supplies, but there are many costs ("gaps") it doesn't cover. There are several health care coverage plans that can help you pay for certain services above and beyond Original Medicare.
